The leaders of Ha Noi, Hai Phong cities and Lao Cai, Quang Ninh provinces have recently hold meeting and signed the co-operation report of constructing Kunming - Lao Cai - Ha Noi - Hai Phong economic corridor. When being completed, this corridor line would help link Vietnam’s market with the potential Western South market of China. Transport infrastructure and service were the most important elements to link these two area.
As experts’ estimation, about US $600 million would be needed for constructing the new railway line in conformity with international standard.
According to the co-operation report, the four above-mentioned cities and provinces would co-ordinate with relevant ministries, sector; propose mechanism and solutions to push up the works’ progress. As scheduled, the co-operation and specific works would be continuously discussed in the next meeting among the leaders of Hanoi, Hai Phong, Lao Cai, Quang Ninh and Yunnan province (China). After that, they would be submitted to the Prime Minister of the two countries.
